Drawings i made during my childhood

I thought it would be fun to put up some of the stuff i drew when i was a kid.
I did this so you can see how my style and skill evolved during time, but also to show you that I too was once a crappy, lowsey, skillless artist. who am i kidding, i still am d^-^b

i'm hoping that it will encourage young artist te keep on drawing, and not to give up because the results are not what they wanted it to be.

So far i found a 180 drawings from when i was younger, and those are only the ones i can find, there are also the ones i gave/threw away or the ones i just didn't finish. I've selected some of those drawings and tried to figure out how old i was when i drew them. Finding that out was kinda hard because some drawings don't have a date and there are 2 reasons for that: i was drawing pictures before i could even properly write and read, or i just thought it wasn't important to put the date on.

so... i selected some drawings for you, some of them make me proud, but others ... are just real messed up. I've commented every drawing so you'll know what they're about.

2005-10-12 [Tears of the Dead Star]: Ohhh wow, I love your drawings. And I especially love the colour of the bottom drawing's eyes. Wow, I'm impressed. Keep up the good work

2005-10-12 [The Alchemist]: thanks =) These are one of my best drawings

2005-10-13 [GeminiGirls]: Beautiful artwork! so well done and the 26-09-05

2005-10-19 [Demon bane]: ..u make me feel like ive nver drawn b4

2005-10-19 [Demon bane]: u got my props

2005-10-19 [The Alchemist]: Your props?

2005-10-21 [leola]: omg! i wish i could draw like that. Oo

2005-10-21 [The Alchemist]: me too =)

2005-10-24 [SerenityBug]: Lol, thats what I always say when people tell me that. Ha ha... Great drawings by the way, though on the bottom one, her lips are outlined a bit too harshly. Pretty awesome even still. You draw beautifully, and so realistically. I envy you.

2005-10-24 [The Alchemist]: i envy me too (that was the other me speaking, lol)

2005-10-26 [Koralita]: thehe the aclhemist is schizo! O.o Almost autumnbreak (herfstvakantie ;)) so i can finally start your tutorial! :D

2005-10-27 [The Alchemist]: NOo no no, i USED to be shizo, but we're ok now.

2005-10-29 [someelf]: Beautifull! *Claps in hands* Love your artwork!

2005-11-25 [J. "dragonruler" Rouse]: I do like you style, very nice. *Applauds* Would you be interested in joining my two new drawing contests? There is a prize I offer. Please consider them, Draw Troa and Draw Riyoko. *Bows and graciously walks out*

2005-11-25 [Viperious]: Beautiful pics, very good job.

2005-11-25 [The Alchemist]: thanks dude, updates should be one the way

2005-11-25 [Jino "ChaoS" Silver_flamE]: ::looks at pictures:: WOW! ::falls from his chair::

2005-12-02 [Nicoda]: i love all your work..they are as if you take a pencil and brake the line, brake the paper prison in which they are traped in, letting the people you've created escape and then become real.

2005-12-03 [The Alchemist]: wow that a lot of credit you give me. i like the poetic undertone in your comment

2005-12-04 [Jino "ChaoS" Silver_flamE]: Hm... Pretty comment. ::is ashamed he didn't come up with such pretty words, that still aren't stron enough to express the way he actually finds the pictures beautiful::

2005-12-04 [The Alchemist]: are you talking in third person about yourself??

2005-12-05 [Nicoda]: well you should get a lot of credit..oh and i really like the last one..

2005-12-05 [Jino "ChaoS" Silver_flamE]: No i'm not. The " :: " is what I use instead of " * " to indicate "actiontext" and explain what I'm doing/thinking at the moment. I've been using this since I started talking to people over the internet. And I still can't get used to using the stars. *tries using the stars* Nah... Not comfortable.

2005-12-07 [Analeyin]: Are these photo-based? (I mean, of course, photo-referenced)

2005-12-07 [Jino "ChaoS" Silver_flamE]: Good question. (please tell us they're not?)

2005-12-07 [The Alchemist]: yes i use pictures to help me with the atonomy and the bodypose

2005-12-08 [Analeyin]: *I'm going to try and be constructively critical, but if I miss the mark, feel free to shut me up.* I was just wondering, since (even if they're loverly!), they look a little stiff and disjointed (ie, where reference ends and imagination begins). Have you ever tried cross-contour drawing? It's helped me realize volume for various things. There are some places where your shadows don't quite make sense to me and "malform" some of the features (for example, the Egyptian's chin looks too rounded and puffy, as does the area between her cheekbones and jawline). It's really a tragedy that your artwork is so grey-ed (I'm guessing, from the photos and lighting). Do you have any sort of digital photo

2005-12-08 [Analeyin]: editor? You might be able to add some strength back to the pencil that the scan/photo took away. My last bit of two-cent-worthy advice: BLEND! Your shadows seem at times much to drastic and cut the picture in distinct layers (dark, medium, light), which sometimes hinders the perception of depth. I don't know how this can really be remedied, since I can't particularly shade to save my life, but I just think it's something you may want to look into. *Whew! If you read over that, I sound like I know what I'm talking about... Haha.*

2005-12-08 [The Alchemist]: hmm i do see that you have some kinda point there

2005-12-09 [Jino "ChaoS" Silver_flamE]: Erm... Is depth really important? I believe it's the vision that counts.

2005-12-09 [Analeyin]: Well, depth IS important, as well as the vision. You need them both for good art. Vision is the foundation, the "spark", but then one must master the technical aspects before they deviate. Sorry for clogging up your gallery comments, Alchemist.

2005-12-11 [The Alchemist]: hmm, i grant you forgiveness

2005-12-12 [Jino "ChaoS" Silver_flamE]: But... What does depth have to do with Art? Do Picasso's paintings have depth?

2005-12-12 [Analeyin]: *continues to trespass* Picasso's paintings "have to do" with a skewed perception of life, that is, a representation of the emotion of an observation. Aha, you argue, but this is the meaning of Art, no? True enough, but the famed "Picasso style" deals in abstraction whereas, for example, Alchemists, deals in a more concrete representation of life...

2006-01-03 [Lily~]: wow... You are an amazing artist. *jaw hits floor* (just so ya know I probably won't visit again... it's amazing what you find on here when bored.*nods*)

2006-01-03 [The Alchemist]: amazing, amazing, i can draw a little yes, but amazing. there's are people who are WAY better then me.

2006-01-05 [Jino "ChaoS" Silver_flamE]: So? Most of the people are WAY WORSE than you. You're a great artist.

2006-01-05 [The Alchemist]: yea but not like i can go out and bring my stuff on the market

2006-01-05 [Jino "ChaoS" Silver_flamE]: Why the hell not?

2006-01-05 [The Alchemist]: who's gonna buy me stuff, he???

2006-01-06 [Jino "ChaoS" Silver_flamE]: I would, if I had the money... Why not auction it on-line? You'll see!

2006-01-07 [The Alchemist]: i have no idea how much i would ask for it.

2006-01-09 [Jino "ChaoS" Silver_flamE]: Well... People usually decide that when they take them to action them. The people who do that have specialists price them.

2006-01-20 [Crimson Mistress]: *doesn't see why [The Alchemist] should delete art related comments*

2006-01-20 [Crimson Mistress]: The art is really great though.

2006-01-20 [*CosmicGirl]: This is like amazing.

2006-05-22 [Nicoda]: NO, the castle is really great! 'The Alchemist' is my favorite though...I love the shading.

2006-05-22 [The Alchemist]: nah the shading on the castle is all bad, not what i ment for it to be :(

2006-05-24 [Nicoda]: Well, you could go back and try to fix it the way you want^_^
